News update 11th November

11th November 2022
 Dear Parents/ carers,

As we held a minute's silence at 11am today we thought carefully about those who lost their lives so we could have peace - 'Lest we forget'.  The Year 2 children accompanied Mrs Mackay to the War Memorial in Alnwick and were our representatives in laying a wreath.

As you know, we had an Ofsted inspection this week and were joined by inspectors. Many thanks to those who completed the online parent survey - this was much appreciated.  The inspectors worked extremely hard gathering evidence. They used our school website and documentation, talked to staff and parents, looked at children's work and lessons but most importantly: talked to our children.  The inspectors told me they felt extremely welcomed at St Michael's and thought our children were a delight.  We are very proud of each and every one of them.  The inspection was conducted professionally and the team found out all about St Michael's. The result of the inspection cannot be shared until it has been quality assured and verified. This will be within 30 working days and we will share it as soon as we know more.

Next week is anti-bullying week. We are asking everyone to wear ODD SOCKS on Monday to kick it off by celebrating uniqueness.

Our bikeability sessions start on Monday with Year 6. Don't forget your bike and your helmet!

Next Friday is Children in Need. We will support this with a non-uniform day (donation) and hold a pudsey-themed cake stall. We are kindly asking for donations on Friday morning please!

The Alnwick Christmas Lights will be turning on at 7pm on Friday 18th. A team of staff will be there from 6pm(ish) to hand out the decorations for the tree.

We hope you have a restful weekend and look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday morning.

Best wishes,

Gavin Johnston - Head Teacher
